FAQ & Troubleshooting
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is WebWatch?
WebWatch is an iOS app designed to help you monitor changes on your favorite websites. Stay informed about updates that matter to you without manually revisiting the pages.
2. How does WebWatch work?
WebWatch periodically checks the websites you specify for changes using iOS's Background App Refresh. You will receive a notification when significant changes are detected based on your customized preferences. Note that the frequency of checks is managed by iOS, typically occurring a few times a day, depending on system resources and settings.
3. Is my data safe with WebWatch?
Yes, all monitoring data is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your monitored data to any external server.
4. How do I enable Background App Refresh for WebWatch?
To enable Background App Refresh, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh on your device and make sure it is enabled for WebWatch. This will allow the app to check for changes while running in the background.
5. Does WebWatch consume a lot of battery?
WebWatch is optimized to use iOS's Background App Refresh functionality efficiently. The frequency of updates may vary depending on your device settings to minimize battery usage.
6. Can I use WebWatch to monitor multiple websites?
Yes, you can add multiple websites to monitor simultaneously. Customize each entry to receive notifications that are most relevant to you.
7. Is WebWatch free?
WebWatch is free to download and use, but some advanced features are available through in-app purchases with WebWatch Pro.
8. Does WebWatch support websites with dynamic content?
WebWatch only supports static websites. If the content on a website is generated dynamically using JavaScript, WebWatch will not be able to detect those changes since it fetches only the raw HTML of the URL.
9. Can I use Shortcuts to trigger checks in WebWatch?
Yes, WebWatch supports the Shortcuts app. You can create a shortcut to manually trigger a website check whenever you need it.
Troubleshooting
1. I am not receiving notifications. What should I do?
- Make sure notifications are enabled for WebWatch in Settings > Notifications > WebWatch.
- Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled for WebWatch in Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
2. The app is not detecting changes. What could be wrong?
- Ensure that the website is static. WebWatch does not support content that is generated dynamically using JavaScript.
- Since the monitoring frequency is controlled by iOS, checks may not happen immediately and could be delayed.
